Congratulations to our 2010 Yes I Can! Award winners!
The 2009-10 Yes I Can! Awards will be celebrated on June 27, 2010.
The Yes I Can! Awards were established to honour children and youth with disabilities who have excelled. Internationally, thousands of children and youth have been recognized since the program’s inception in 1982. On June 27, 2010 SKCEC will recognize students from various communities in Saskatchewan for their outstanding achievements in one of nine categories:
- Academics
- Arts
- Athletics
- Community Service
- Employment
- Extracurricular Activities
- Independent Living Skills
- Self-Advocacy
- Technology
Practical suggestions for co-planning, co-instructing, co-assessing.
Dr. Lisa Dieker (University of Central Florida) challenged us, stimulated us and left us wanting more!
We are working with Dr. Dieker to bring her back May 2011 and exploring satelite feed to schools - check back for updates!!!
SKCEC recognizes and financially supports individuals who wish to pursue a career directly related to working with persons with exceptionalities. Here is an opportunity to sing the praises of these dedicated unsung heroes through nominations for a scholarship.
The SKCEC 2010 Scholarship is valued at $1000.
The deadline for aplications is June 15, 2010.

Need information, ideas and/or suggestions how to support ALL students in your classroom? Come to "Hot Topics!" 3rd Wednesday each month.
Hot Topics! are suggestions from teachers and professional support staff. Sessions are held the 3rd Wednesday of the month (6:30 - 8:30 pm) at the STF Building (Arlington Avenue and Louise Street, Saskatoon).
CEC Members - FREE! Non-members: $10 pre-registration, $15 on-site (pay on-site).

Ennio Cipani has acquired the digital rights to his book, "Punishment on Trial: A resource guide to child discipline" and is now offering it as a free download. It deals with notions and myths about punishment and parental considerations in discipline tactics for children in the home setting.
